Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures, a division of the American Library Association, invites applications and nominations for the editor and assistant editor for Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS), one of Core’s three scholarly research journals. The LRTS Editor will be appointed for a renewable three-year term ending June 30, 2024. The appointment includes an annual stipend of $1,000 and paid registration to attend the ALA Annual Conference. The LRTS Assistant Editor will be appointed for a renewable three-year term ending June 30, 2024. The appointment includes an annual stipend of $1,000 and paid registration to attend the ALA Annual Conference. LRTS publishes both research papers and thoughtful explorations of operational issues that have value and implications for other libraries.
The LRTS Editor is responsible for soliciting submissions and publicizing the content of published issues of the journal; convening meetings of the journal’s editorial board; and collaborating with the editorial board to achieve a balance among the articles published to best represent the varied interests of all technical services professionals. Position qualifications include Core membership; demonstrated writing and editing expertise; experience with the peer review process; ability to meet deadlines; and awareness of current technical services and collections research issues and trends, including efforts to create more diverse, equitable, and inclusive knowledge structures. The editor receives an annual stipend of $1,500 plus paid registration to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
The LRTS Assistant Editor is responsible for assisting the LRTS Editor with the evaluation of submitted papers prior to peer review; coordinating the journal’s peer review process, including communication with authors; participating in publicity and content development for the journal; and soliciting books to review from relevant publishers. To qualify for this position, applicants must be Core members; have demonstrated writing and editing expertise; have experience with the peer review process, have awareness of current technical services and collections research issues and trends, including efforts to create more diverse, equitable, and inclusive knowledge structures; and have knowledge of the professionals working in the areas of collections and technical services. The appointment includes an annual stipend of $1,000 and paid registration to attend the ALA Annual Conference.
