The Core Board is soliciting nominations for the office of Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Metadata and Collections Section.
The Metadata and Collections Section addresses and improves all aspects of acquisitions, cataloging, collections, continuing resources, metadata, preservation, reformatting, and technical services in all types of libraries. Examples of the section’s work include, but are not limited to:
- Sharing best practices and knowledge in work areas that support collections and discovery;
- Identifying best practices for equity, diversity, and inclusion in the development and description of collections;
- Creation and input on standards and best practices for selection, acquisition, description, access, and preservation of information resources;
- Preservation of both print, media, and digital resources.
Candidates should have experience with committee service and leadership, preferably with Metadata and Collections section committees. Candidates will be asked to describe what they value about the Metadata and Collections Section, why they hope to lead it, and how they bring diversity, equity, and inclusion into their work.
The Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect will serve a three-year term: as Chair-Elect in 2023-24, as Chair in 2024-25, and as immediate Past-Chair in 2025-26.
Candidates must be current Core members at the time of the election in May 2023. The Board will select at least two candidates for the ballot. The last day to submit your application or nominate others is March 26, 2023.
The election will take place May 1-21, 2023.
If you nominate someone else, they’ll be contacted to complete the form. If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Corbett, Board liaison to the Metadata and Collections Section, at corbetle@wfu.edu. All nominations will be held in confidence.
We also encourage you to forward this call for nominations to potential nominees.
