Information Technology and Libraries [ITAL] is one of the three open-access, peer-reviewed journals published by Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures (a division of ALA). If you are interested in furthering the scholarly record for library technology and have a background or interest in information technology, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the profession and engage with colleagues across all types of organizations in examining the role of technology in libraries. We are especially interested in applications from those in underrepresented groups and identities and we encourage any interested individuals to apply.
Submit your application by April 28, 2023.
The ITAL Editorial Board has a critical role to play in building the foundation for the journal’s future. The Editorial Board should reflect the broad diversity of Core’s membership. Members of the Board have several key responsibilities (for details, see the editorial board member job description):
- Shaping the direction and strategy for the journal;
- Participating in online Editorial Board meetings; and
- Soliciting contributions to the journal (based on personal networking, conference attendance, etc.)
- Optionally reviewing articles submitted to the journal, for those who want to be involved at an even deeper level (see the peer reviewer job description).
Board members are expected to participate in monthly online meetings. Attendance at ALA Annual and Midwinter is not required. A term of service is two years (July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025); an individual may serve up to two consecutive terms and must maintain a membership in Core for that period.
No prior editorial board experience is required. All editorial board members are expected to be committed to contributing to the growth and mission of the journal, but editorial board membership will also provide the opportunity to learn about scholarly publishing and how content policies and procedures are established.
More Information about this role can be found in the Information Technologies and Libraries website, and the ITAL Editorial Board committee page on the Core website. Still have questions? Please contact any member of the nominating committee (details below).
