What were the major takeaways of the Core Forum?
Core people are super welcoming and it is pretty easy to jump in and get involved if you are so inclined. The smaller conference setting was so much accessible and more enjoyable than much larger conferences.
What attracted you to attend the Core Forum?
I am in a new position that involves a fair amount in the technical services realm. I do not have quite enough experience in that area so I wanted to attend Core Forum to learn more, particularly relating to cataloging, RDA etc. I ended up learning a good bit about how AI could be useful in these areas.
What advice would you give to others to get the most out of a Core Forum?
Say hi to people. Ask them questions about their work and/or presentations and research. Feeling awkward? Who cares? They’re all nerds too.
What are you working on now that you’re excited about?
I am currently working on a research bibliography for the Battle of Kursk, which was a 1943 battle, the largest tank battle in history, between the Germans and the Soviets near the city of Kursk in western Russia. It would probably get done a bit sooner but I keep finding interesting fascinating tangents about the battle, commanders, and Operation Citadel as a whole.
What are you currently reading/ listening to/ watching/ making?
I just watched the movie Legend with Tom Hardy—I love me some Tom Hardy! Listening to Drudkh and Blackbraid, reading Chernobyl by Serhii Plohky.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I have never read Harry Potter, Thrones of anything, and I don’t own a single cardigan.
