Member Opportunities & Announcements

  • Registration for Core Forum 2025 is now open! Join your colleagues November 12-14 in Denver, CO, at the Hilton Denver City Center! Reconnect with friends and make new connections while celebrating the intersection and overlap of the core work we do. Learn more about Forum and register for the main event and its preconferences at www.coreforum.org
  • Core is offering several Fundamentals Web Courses throughout summer and fall! This series of related online courses covers basic topics that enhance skills in various areas of library work.
  • The Core Marketing and Social Media Committee is looking to welcome new members. We are seeking individuals who have expertise in the following areas: social media, marketing and promotion, graphic design, and communication. This is a Core Division Level committee that is charged with amplifying the work of Core and its members through various communication channels. The committee works closely with Core staff and meets monthly to develop communication and marketing plans and discuss and implement promotional ideas for Core. There are several opportunities to work in a specified role on this committee including managing blog content, being a liaison to other Core committees seeking marketing and promotion assistance (web, publications, etc.), assisting with news releases, coordinating social media posts using Sprout Social, and developing and maintaining communication plans (social media, event promotion, etc.). Reach out to Committee Chair Kerry Walton at kwalton2@wcupa.edu for more information.
  • We need your talents! Complete the volunteer form to get involved in Core. For most of our committees, the appointment process starts in February and finishes in April so that new committee members can begin on July 1; however, there are several committees that are still in need of members. You must be a member of Core to serve on a committee or chair an Interest Group. Please note: technical difficulties with this form have been resolved. Please contact Todd Ross, Core Membership and Communications Specialist, at tross@ala.org for questions.

To have your committee meeting, Core event, or Core member opportunity listed in a future issue of This Week in Core (TWIC), contact the Core Office at core@ala.org a few weeks ahead of time and title your message “TWIC Post Request.”

Have a great week!
