What do you value about Core?

I value the people that I work with in Core and the professional development opportunities it provides. Core is relevant to many aspects of my current position, and I’ve learned a lot from its webinars, courses, and e-Forums. My department also utilizes its professional development offerings.

How long have you been a Core member?

I’ve been a member of Core since its formation. I was previously a member of ALTCS.

What drew you to and continues to attract you to the Core Community?

I was drawn to Core through its service and professional development opportunities. I’ve stayed because it continues to provide significant value in those areas.

What are you working on now that you’re excited about?

I have been participating in a digital sharing task force for a regional consortium related to ebook lending and the associated considerations, such as licensing, infrastructure, and metadata. It is exciting to collaborate with this future-focused group of library professionals.

What are you currently reading/listening to/watching/making?

I just finished watching the newest season of Slow Horses and enjoyed it as much as every other season so far. I always complain that the seasons are too short. I recently started reading the God of the Woods by Liz Moore.

What advice can you share with others for a fulfilling and beneficial Core experience?

Volunteering for a committee is a terrific way to get involved and meet other people in the field. You can also take advantage of free professional development opportunities like e-Forums and Interest Group Week.

Join an interest group or check out Core’s healthy mix of free and paid professional development opportunities if it suits you! Also, give me a shout through ALA connect if you’ll be at Core Forum in Denver or ALA 2026 in Chicago, and I can probably teach you something you didn’t know before.

We hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about the people of Core. If you would like to nominate someone or self-nominate, please fill out this Form.
